The history of motorized
vehicles is very short. We used to walk and carry every thing we wanted to
transport. We called it man power. When the load became too heavy we engaged
some of our four legged friends to help carry the burden, we called it horse
power. That became a little too slow so we invented the motor. We called that
engine power. This leads us to the love of the automobile. Four nights a week,
including "Bike Night " on Thursday one can enjoy some of these vehicles from
the past to the present at "Our Town" Old-Town.
This Friday was hot and humid as we headed to Old-Town with our 87 S 10 Pickup.
After awhile Stan and Maryann came in with their 2010 Volkswagen Jetta followed
by Chris with his Pontiac Formula 400. Soon George Pennachi showed up with his
2005 Yukon and Jay had his 2002 yellow Corvette, Bob Butler came with him as
Bob's truck is still on the sick list. We had some rain but the spectators were
coming in pretty fast. We were talking to Larry from Pittsburgh who is here for
a week. He was waiting for his family who were shopping.
Ken Keel and his buddy Charlie made it out to visit tonight. Ken is usually a
regular cruiser but he does have a lot of medical problems. Pat and Alan, 2 of
our regular spectators were out visiting the shops.
We had a very large new dump truck that was out to show. Some of these large
vehicles are not safe to cruise our crowded streets but they are interesting to
look at. Felix had his 1978 red Scorpion but it was too wet for some of his
buddies. We talked with Celene who is only 16 but is the proud owner of a
beautiful 2010 Mustang V-6 Premium. Her father, Sam brought her and her car out
to show.
Some of our regular diehards were, Ryan with his 2008 Mitsubishi, Michelle and
Miki were with him, Robert and his 1987 Mustang, Vinny with his 2005 Dakota,
Lynn had her 2009 Avalanche, Lori had her 06 Charger and Pablo and Nilda with
their 96 Taurus.
The P T Cruisers were out tonight, Ralph had his 2001 PT, Toby was here with his
2004 PT, Bert and Laverne with their 2007 PT and Bud and Becky had their 2007
PT.
The cruiser of the month for July is Ed Gasdick with his 1988 Red Convertible
Corvette. He chose two other losers, Tony with his 1994 Corvette and George and
George 1986 Olds Cutlass to share the honored spot.
Bob and Norma were next to the bleachers with their 2006 Mustang. Ken and Audrey
decided to bring out their 2011 Jaguar tonight. Alfonso and Tammy were out
visiting tonight but left the Cadillac home on account of the weather. Two more
regular visitors are Porky and Anne and Ted was out snapping pictures so look
for them on Steve's web site.
Tim Andrews is still having some problems with his 1987 Olds but he still
brought it out to cruise with us. We were chatting with Candido Garcia and his
wife Diana, they have a beautiful 1985 Cutlass Supreme. This is only their
second time out but they said they would definitely be back. We do like to see
the older cars come in.
A couple of other pickups were a 2002 Ford owned by Alexander Engberg and his
wife Amanda and Freddyson who has a 2003 S 10 Extreme. Remember all our cruisers
are important to our cruise. They give a full variety of vehicles to enjoy.
Our Cruise-O-Matic was $450.00 but no takers tonight. The 50/50 was $42.00 and
went home with Bud and Becky. Two of our cruisers. We had 79 registered
cruisers.
Gary, we miss you, we pray that you get well soon and hope to see you back on
your cart and taking care of business.
See you all next week.
