Remember the song "The lazy
hazy days of summer", well that is where we are now. Personally we are enjoying
it very much. We had another beautiful day for our cruise. It seems there was
rain all around which kept the spectator and cruiser crowd count down a little.
We still had 118 cruisers that came out to show their cruisers that they are
proud of. Dave and Lee, two of our special people welcomed us into Old-Town at 5
o'clock. After we found our favorite spot for our S 10 pickup we headed out for
our evening meal. We were joined by Stan and Maryann who had their Pacer out
tonight. It looks like it is running pretty good now, Gerald who had his 96 Ford
P U and Doug who is between cruisers now.
Larry came out with his 2004 Dodge P U, no Gator tonight. Mike had his 92 Sonoma
P U, Jay was out with his 02 Corvette, Chris Mohler with his 75 Pontiac Formula
400 and Mike and Diane with their 98 El Camino.
Our good friend Tony who has Tex/Mex Restaurant was back with us tonight. He was
under the weather last week but is much better now. George Pennachi had block 2
all to himself to show his 05 Yukon. Mark, with his "Twisted Rat" is a Saturday
Night Cruiser. We thought he got his nights mixed up but he was cruising with us
as a special interest vehicle. You would have to see this cruiser yourself to
see what Mark came up with to be his cruiser.
Out on trophy row is where you will find most of the cruisers. Toby was out with
his 04 PT Cruiser. Some more PTs are Ralph with his 2001 PT, Bert and Laverne
with their 2007 "Elvis" PT, Bob Melzer with his 06 PT and Bud and Becky with
their 07 PT. Luis and Sylvia had their 2003 Nissan P U Frontier, Pablo and Nilda
had their 96 Taurus, Vinny had his 05 Dakota and Wayne and Connie had their 79
MG Midget.
We were talking to David who had his 2009 Shelby Mustang here tonight. David had
his wife Margarita and children Jessica and Matthew with him. This is
Margarita's first time out cruising.
Bob and Norma were next to the stage with their 2006 Orange Mustang and Ken and
Audrey were out with their Jaguar. Oop's we thought it was a 2010 but Audrey
informed us that it was a 2011 XJL Jaguar. Sorry about that error.
Ramon had his 2006 Mustang, Albert had his 2001 Trans Am and Alfonso and Tammy
had their 1986 Cadillac out tonight. Felix had his 78 Scorpion, Freddyson had
his 03 S 10 Xtreme, Sean Rogers had his 06 Nissan and Robert Campiglia had his
87 Mustang out tonight. We met Eric Curenton who has a 1988 Black Convertible
Camaro. He said he is the second owner of this vehicle.
The Showstoppers, a very good band, were entertaining on stage tonight. Jackie
was feeling better than the last time she was here and did a very good job
tonight. We also talked to Jim Kane who was one of the original Showstoppers from
1987. He performed at the Little Darlin's when Old Town first opened. His wife
Karen was with him. He no longer performs.
A few more cruisers we talked to were Tyler Stanley from Poinciana who has 1981 DeLorean, 1983 was the last time they made the DeLorean. The body is all
stainless steel. He has been cruising since April. Ryan, Michele and Miki had
their 2008 Mitsubishi and John Candinal had his 1983 El Camino here tonight.
We found a special 2006 Chevy Malibu. Aaron Lietzau has this beautiful cruiser.
He has added a lot of chrome trimming and did it all himself. It is surprising
what one can do when you over come the hard ships in your life. The under the
stairs gang were all in place and some of the Tropical Breeze gang were out
tonight. Today was Laverne's birthday and we hope she had a happy one. It was
good to see Joe and Marge tonight, also Tom and Bunny who are here most of the
time on Friday.
Our Cruiser of the Month for July is Ed and Sherry Gasdick who have a 1988 Red
Convertible Corvette. They had their loser friends sharing the honored spot.
Tony has a 1994 Corvette and George and George have a 1986 Olds Cutlass.
We saw Tim out tonight, his cruiser is sick again. We thank the many others that
came out to display their cruisers for us all to enjoy looking at. The 50/50 was
$54.00 and went home with Glenda. The Cruise-O-Matic was $425.00 but no takers
tonight.
See you all next week.
