story

Our first stop was to check in at the office then on to Trophy Row to park our '67 Dodge Dart 270 about 3:15, Stan & Maryann parked their '80 Eagle across from us, Bill & Doris arrived in their '79 T-Bird, we welcomed a new Old Town Cruiser John Fassbinder in his '04 Nissan, Gary moved his '07 HHR Sherrod to it’s spot by the stage. We headed to Flippers and opted to eat inside because it was damp and chilly outside with the possibility of more rain. Tom and Bunny arrived in his '66 Malibu after they had parked they joined us with Jim, Joy & her sister Donna, Laura had already parked her '98 Firebird and joined us, having placed her order over the radio Ron was able to have her meal ready as she walked in the door, he took good care of us all tonight and John helped him. Lynn drove by in her '08 Avalanche, Mike & Carol in their '74 Dodge Dart, Dave brought out his '83 Grand Marquis, I did not see Lori drive by in her '06 Dodge Charger but she was parked when we got back to Trophy Row and the Dukes were setting up their equipment.

Elmer was in his '66 Chevy Super Sport, Bert and “Ernie” Laverne, "Elvis Tribute" arrived in their PT Cruiser with Granma & Mitchell, Pep & Nancy were in their '91 Mustang Convertible followed by Rosemary & Dan in her 2000 Mustang Convertible. Mike & Carolyn Weiss are “In Town” taking a break from the snow in Tennessee they are doing well and pass on their “Hello’s and best wishes to everyone”, They were able to purchase a new CD from the Dukes to play at a cruise they have in Tennessee.

On what turned out to be a very wet night we had a total of 16 Cruiser Cars and a fair number of spectators who huddled together under the overhangs on both sides of the street. Our dancers were not about to admit defeat and danced in the rain others managed to find room under the overhangs. Because the rain was becoming heavier the Dukes finished after their second set which they extended to give Rosemary and I time sell more tickets (Bunny was having a well deserved break to spend time with her visitors and master some more dance steps with Nancy, Lyn and Lori).

Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser #114 Mike & Carol Bauer with their '74 Dodge Dart. Rosemary did a great job selling tickets and Cruiser #48 Bunny Jaggers had the winning 50/50 ticket for the $60 jackpot. Cruiser #131 Joe Quiroga was not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $175 next week. The case of oil donated by Valvoline went home with Cruiser #54 Bert & “Ernie” Laverne Brown.

By 8:00 everyone was wet and it seemed as though the rain had no intention of letting up so the evening ended an hour early but those who came out seemed to have enjoyed themselves we thank them for braving the inclement weather.

Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town Merchants Association for sponsoring “The Dukes”, to Out of This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and Old Town Leather, Valvoline, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our volunteer staff and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.

See you all Next Week “Same Time, Same Place”
