Steve parked our '67 Dodge Dart 270 on
Trophy Row around 3:15 after we had made our weekly visit to the office,
we were not optimistic of having a large car count or spectator crowd
the high temperature for the day was only 56ºF we had bright sunshine
but the wind kept it cool, usually you can estimate a 10ºF drop in
temperature at sundown. Gary had his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the stage
and he was helping Scotty keep a watchful eye on a film crew that was in
town. Stan & Maryann parked their '05 Escape and Bill & Doris parked
their '79 T-Bird next to them.
We headed to Flippers to eat inside tonight Mike was still on duty and
took care of us until John arrived and got oriented. Pablo & Nilda
parked their '96 Taurus then made the trek to Flippers the only arrivals
while we were eating were Dave in his daily driver and Bill in his '63
Parisienne.
We had been back on Trophy Row for a while before Walter & Jean arrived
in their '70 Challenger T/A to experience their first “Rock at the
Clock” event unfortunately they are scheduled to return home to Rhode
Island on Sunday. Dale parked his '27 Ford by the bleachers, Mike & Seth
ventured out in their '92 Sonoma, Rosemary & Dan were in her 2000
Mustang Convertible. Fred arrived in his '61 Corvair he escaped from
Michigan before the snow got too heavy, Larry & Karen were in "ITZA40",
Mike & Annette made it out in their '63 Corvair Spyder, Juan arrived in
his '90 Miata followed by Juan in his '86 Toyota MR2, Ralph & Ulla
stopped by in their daily driver to say hello and Kelly brought out her
'05 Pontiac Grand Am bringing the total number of cruiser cars to 16. A
far better turn out than we expected and the temperature did not drop
too badly when the sun went down.
Jim and Craig arrived and set up, their plan was to perform the first
two sets as scheduled then make a decision about the third set, we were
all pleasantly surprised by the spectator crowd that built slowly. Our
friends from Holland arrived as promised and enjoyed the evening. Bunny
had called earlier to they would not be coming and we wish Tom a speedy
recovery, we set up the 50/50 ticket sales Dave, Rosemary and Tracy all
took turns at selling tickets for which I was grateful.
The “Dukes” extended their first set while people were still buying
tickets and the spectators were still dancing and generally having a
good time. Then Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser #145 Mike &
Annette Burke in their '63 Corvair Spyder. Cruiser #76 Fred Moritz had
the winning 50/50 ticket for the $50 jackpot. Cruiser #171 Ed Gasdick
was not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $125 next week. The case of
oil donated by Valvoline went home with Cruiser #77 Juan Mercado.
A few more spectators filtered in for the second set and danced to the
beat of the “Dukes” some even started taking off a jacket or two because
dancing was keeping them warm Carlene and Nilda and a few of the ladies
were line dancing. We left just as the “Dukes” started their third set
the cold was getting to us, quite a few cars had left but their was
still a fair sized crowd. So yet again we say Thank you to everyone who
braved the cold to enjoy an evenings entertainment with friends at Old
Town.
We also Thank Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town
Merchants Association for sponsoring “The Dukes”, to Out of This World
Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy
Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and

cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great
evening in our “Home Town”.
