Steve & I arrived on Trophy Row just after
3 pm in our '67 Dodge Dart 270, after visiting with Tracy, Jerry & Alex
in the office, Gary had his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the stage and Bill
& Doris had their '87 Chevy S-10 as close as they could get to him.
The weather tonight was fair to middling or about normal for a Florida
Winter Stan & Maryann came out in their '05 Escape, Dave came straight
from work in his daily driver, Esther & Asa came out to visit him later,
Asa informed us that he had been “sick today” we sympathized and wished
him a speedy recovery. We made our way to Flippers where the staff
agreed it would probably be comfortable to eat outside tonight. Mike,
Ron & John took care of us (we arrive in time for shift change). Tom,
Bunny, Jim & Joy arrived in her '68 Fairlane they joined us once they
had parked, Bill parked his '63 Parisienne on Trophy Row and came to
join us along with a surprise visit from Emil in his '48 Ford "High
School Flame", Mike & Seth arrived in their '92 Sonoma, Lynn drove by in
her '49 Ford Pickup, John was in his '57 Chevy 210 and Lori was in her
'06 Dodge Charger.
Back on Trophy Row Dale arrived in his '27 Ford, Fred, Carole & Lucy,
accompanied by her Sister & Brother in law parked their '78 Fairmont by
us, Wilson arrived in his '74 Nova followed by Juan in an '86 Toyota MRZ,
Glen & Joyce arrived in their '65 VW, Bill & Carrollyn were in their '59
Pontiac. Jim & Deb made a rare visit in their '69 Firebird work has been
getting in the way of their cruising, Rosemary & Dan arrived in her 2000
Mustang Convertible, Juan arrived in a Mazda Miata, Laura was in her '98
Firebird, Charlie arrived in his '02 BMW Mini, John & Sandy were
chaperoned by their daughter Dawn in their '55 Chevy Belair, Tom &
Barbara were in their '65 Impala and Chad visited for the first time in
his '68 Camaro the last car to arrive was an '80 Fairmont and the owner
never did find his way to the 50/50 table to make himself known to me
however he brought the total number of Cruiser Cars for the evening to
26, Thank you one and all.
There was a Snowbird update “More are on their way”. We had quite a few
spectators in place by 6 pm when the Dukes began their first set
including many familiar faces, now names are a different matter entirely
and you can always come and see me at the 50/50 table and make sure I
have your name on my list. After Allen left Scotty, Dave & Gary took
care of the many varied tasks that they carry out so efficiently every
week and Tracy joined us at the 50/50 table for a while.
At the appointed time Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser # 73
Laura Pennington in her '98 Firebird. Bunny did a great job selling
50/50 tickets with her assistant Tracy, Emil Cruiser # 3 had the winning
ticket for the $79 jackpot. Cruiser # 31 Buddy Smith was not out so the
Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $75 next week. Cruiser # 70 Stan & Maryann
Mull went home with the case of oil donated by Valvoline.
Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town
Merchants Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of
This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives &
Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N
Around and Old Town Leather, Valvoline, to Tracy Old Town’s Events
Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our
volunteer staff and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or
without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make
this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
We had intended to leave after the drawings because of an early meeting
we had to attend on Thursday but the time disappeared as we talked to
people and enjoyed the Dukes entertainment, all of a sudden the music
stopped and the lights were being turned out.
See you all Next Week “Same Time, Same Place”
It was good to have
"The
Dukes" back on our stage!
