story

We stopped by the office on our way to park our '67 Dodge Dart 270 on Trophy Row. Mark from the UK’s National Association of Street Clubs was visiting with Tracy, we knew he was planning to be in Town tonight but we did not expect to see him until later. Gary had his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the stage, Bill & Doris parked their '87 Chevy S-10 next to him.

Larry W3PGL & Linda W3BRP had arrived and the four of us headed to Flippers just as we sat down Tommy arrived to set up his keyboard and Wolfman & Sue drove by in their '03 F150 "Wolfwagon", John in his '57 Chevy 210, Tom & Bunny joined us at Flippers after parking their '66 Malibu, Mike & Seth came to Tex Mex after parking their '92 Sonoma.

Ray parked his '32 Ford Coupe, Dave arrived in his '83 Grand Marquis with Nicki, Charlie had his '02 BMW Mini out and Don, Pat & Harriet joined us for the first time in a '39 Chevy, George brought out the '72 Monte Carlo, Fred & Betty were in their daily driver as usual, Ted KE4TTE arrived in his work truck, Rosemary & Dan were in her 2000 Mustang Convertible, Laura NO4OO brought out her 2004 Trailblazer & Cat joined her a little later, Debbie parked her '99 "Elvis Tribute" Cavalier, Ken & Wanda were in the '78 "Indy Pace Car" Corvette, Pete & Mary were in their daily driver and Frank came out in his '68 Corvette bringing the total Number of Cruiser Cars to 17.

The spectator crowd grew steadily starting with Jan, June & Shirley and included “The Tropical Breeze Group”. Mary & Larry were out with an update from the USS Crommelin they haven’t had their Luau yet but some of the crew have responded with thanks for their care packages via email, for those of you with internet access there are updates on Molly’s Adopt A Sailor website.

“The Blue Suede Review” with Shawn as lead guitar, Tommy on the keyboard, Keith was standing in for Jimi on the drums tonight and Paul on bass guitar. Wolfman was at his post, Sue & Jan helped Vicky on the memorabilia table. Dwight performed great even though he was feeling ill with a cold and a sore throat, we did get to hear a Buddy Holly song from Shawn which is always a treat.

Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue Room”, Gary & Dave, Tracy and Scotty were kept busy all evening, Radio Check Ins included Emil KJ4GNH, T Rod KT4ROD. Graham G4HFG who usually checks in on the radio was out in person using his US call sign W4HFG, he was accompanied by his wife Carole and his mother Edith who is a devoted Dwight fan, Ed WB8BHL & Kevin KM4FSU came out to visit with him.

Mark returned with his wife Yvonne to enjoy the evening’s entertainment, they presented us with shirts from this years annual “Yanks Weekend Show” that honors American vehicles, it was held at the Shakespeare County Raceway at the end of May, there is a link to the event from the NASC website which has a link on our SBCNO site. On Saturday we will get to meet their daughter and 10 month old granddaughter while Mark selects a vehicle to receive the N.A.S.C. annual award.

After the first set Steve awarded The Wound’N’Round Cruiser of the week to Cruiser # 12 John Pogue with his '57 Chevy 210.

Bunny did a great job selling 50/50 tickets, Fredrick from Roanoke, Virginia had the winning ticket for the $69 jackpot. Cruiser # 61 Jim Thirkelson was not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $175 next week

Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town Merchants Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and Old Town Leather for, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our volunteer TCB guy’s and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
