We arrived on
Trophy Row as usual in our '67 Dodge Dart 270 and parked in our
regular place, Gary parked his '07 HHR Sherrod by the stage, Bill &
Doris arrived and parked their '79 T-Bird next to Gary. Larry &
Gator surprised us and brought their Friday Nite Cruiser a 2004
Dodge Hemi Truck.
We headed off to Flippers to meet Sue KK4SUE & Ian K4ZPZ visiting
from the UK and making the most of their last Wednesday in town this
visit. Dave drove by in his '63 Avanti and parked on Trophy Row to
await the arrival of Jo Ellen & Morgan, they have had a busy summer
visiting family. Tom & Bunny brought her '68 Fairlane out and joined
us at Flippers, Wolfman & Sue arrived in their '03 F150 "Wolfwagon",
Laura NO4OO brought out her '98 Firebird and joined us at Flippers,
Charlie arrived in his '02 BMW Mini and waited for his neighbor
Kathy and friends Francesca & Dave to arrive they were planning to
dine at the Tex Mex Express.
Back on Trophy Row Joe & Harriet had arrived in their '65
Thunderbird, Ray had started the Hot Rod line up North of the stage
in his '32 Ford Coupe, Bob arrived in his '68 SS396 Chevelle, Nick &
Fran in their '32 Ford Coupe, John & Rich in the '57 Chevy 210.
Rosemary & Dan parked her 2000 Mustang Convertible then Dave arrived
in the '83 Grand Marquis Esther, Mesha & Asa would join him later.
We welcomed two Canadian couples who have brought their cars down
ready to cruise during the “Snowbird season” Kaes & Linsay in their
'56 Oldsmobile and Bruce & Lyn in their '38 Ford and their neighbor
Morris a regular in his '50 Ford Coupe. Tony & Donna arrived in
their '65 Mustang to be the magic cruiser car number 20 this meant
Allan and Nicki would stay and organize a cruise up the bricks for
us at 8:00pm.
Luis arrived in his '73 Maverick, Bert & Ernie were in their '66
Comet Wagon, Debbie joined us in her '99 "Elvis Tribute" Cavalier,
Bill brought out his '69 Corvette, Ken & Wanda brought out their '78
"Indy Pace Car" Corvette, Fred & Betty were in their daily driver,
Frank was in his '68 Corvette bringing the total number of cruisers
cars to 26.
In preparation for the main festivities at the weekend we had been
invited to extend the “Talk Like A Pirate” theme to Wednesday, there
were Pirates around but they seem to have been in stealth mode.
Allan had berthed his circa 1765 ” Pir-Rod” Dual Cannon, Single Mast
dinghy by the stage, the Pirates unmistakable Skull and Crossbones
Flags adorned the stage and a couple of the golf carts were showing
signs of pirate utilization.
“The Blue Suede Review” with Shawn as lead guitar, Tommy had arrived
and set up his keyboard while we were dining, Jimi on the drums and
Paul on bass guitar were in place. Wolfman has accepted Dwight’s
invitation to take Bill’s place on the stage, Sue and Jan manned the
memorabilia table tonight as Vicky was otherwise engaged and Karen
has gone North with Bill. Dwight invited Patrick Sebastian to
perform a couple of numbers tonight. Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the
controls of the “Blue Room”, Gary & Dave, Tracy and Scotty were all
kept busy this evening, radio check ins included Graham G4HFG who is
looking forward to being with us in person next week along with his
wife Carol and his mother Edith, Emil KJ4GNH, Ed WB8BHL, Ted KE4TTE
and Emil KJ4GNH.
The spectator crowd had grown and included the regulars at “The
Tropical Breeze” Charles was in town with his caregiver Mary & her
husband Larry. Mary informed me that the shipment has arrived for
the crew of the USS Crommelin and a party is planned for them to
open their care packages, for those of you with internet access
there are updates on Molly’s Adopt A Sailor website and Mary has
posted pictures on the Navy for Moms website.
Cruiser of the week was awarded a little differently tonight in
recognition of his birthday on Saturday and all the effort he and
his family put into our cruises the award was made to Cruiser #57
Allan & Nicki, their circa 1765 ”Pir-Rod” Dual Cannon, Single Mast
dinghy was acknowledged as a “Special Interest” cruiser for the
evening increasing the cruiser car count to 27.
Asa borrowed my Pirate hat and helped Steve and Mesha with the
drawings. Bunny did a great job selling 50/50 tickets and Margaret
from Glasgow had the winning ticket for the $60 jackpot.
Cruiser #82 Jim & Shirley Crawford (Snowbirds) were not out so the
Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $150 next week.

Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
