story

We arrived on Trophy Row around 2:30 in our '67 Dodge Dart 270, Gary had his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the stage, Larry parked his '93 Chevy Pick Up next to us, Dave arrived in the '83 Grand Marquis Esther, Mesha & Asa would join him later. We headed to Flippers for a leisurely meal served by John, the staff of the Tex Mex Express were busy decorating their section of the patio for their clientele. Bill & Doris drove by in their air conditioned daily driver today not the familiar '79 T-Bird, Tommy arrived to set up his keyboard.

When we got back to Trophy Row Joe & Harriet had arrived in their recently acquired '77 Corvette, Bob parked his '68 SS396 Chevelle north of the stage and Nick parked his '32 Ford Coupe next to him. Charlie joined us in his '02 BMW Mini, Tom & Bunny brought out the '66 Malibu, Wilson was in a Mazda Miata, Rosemary & Dan were in her 2000 Mustang Convertible, Jerry & Judi left their '86 Fiero GT at home tonight, Laura brought out her '98 Firebird, John, Carolyn, Alex & Charlotte were in their '75 VW Bus they are Friday Nite cruisers and seasonal visitors from Preston in the UK. This brought the total number of cruiser cars to 13.

The weather behaved beautifully for us delivering just a few light rain drops during the break after Dwight’s first set, it was not until we drove home that it became apparent that the surrounding area had received enormous amounts of rain throughout the evening. You really do have to experience these weather anomalies to believe them. It explained the light spectator crowd but the weather does not deter “Jazzmine and The Tropical Breeze Group” from attending. Jazzmine had a treat tonight her Mom had arranged for Laura to make her a new Poodle Skirt, she was very excited to receive it and she will be modeling it on Saturday.

The normal pre entertainment arrivals and equipment checks were taking place by “The Blue Suede Review” Shawn as lead guitar & Sarah, Tommy on the keyboard, Jimi on the drums and Paul on bass guitar, Dwight & Vicky. Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue Room”, Gary, Dave, Tracy, Scotty Allan & Jerry were on site, Radio Check Ins included Graham G4HFG and Emil KJ4GNH.

After the first set Steve awarded The Wound 'n' Round, Cruiser of the week to Cruiser # 85 Larry & Gator Morris with their '93 Chevy Pick Up. Bunny did a great job selling 50/50 tickets and Charlie, Cruiser # 22 had the winning ticket for the $43 jackpot. Cruiser # 40 Ed & Cheryl Cizenski were not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $100 next week.

Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town Merchants Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and Old Town Leather for participating in tonight’s 50/50 prizes, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our volunteer TCB guy’s and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.

See you all Next Week “Same Time, Same Place”

Allan would really like to see a “cruise up the bricks” become a regular Wednesday Night event however to justify the additional staff required he is requesting a minimum of 20 cars be in attendance so next week August 19, if we have 20 cars we are scheduled to “cruise up the bricks”.

Larry, Mary & Charles were out tonight they reported that their Veteran friends enjoyed themselves last week and announced that they have adopted the USS Crommelin under the “Molly’s Adopt A Sailor Project” aimed at sending appreciation to deployed troops with care packages and communications, they have a list of items that have been requested by the troops from Popcorn to Personal hygiene products and handmade items to keep them warm (hats, gloves, socks etc) see Mary for complete details.
