When we awoke this Friday
morning, we could not believe we were still in Florida. We had a very heavy
frost here in Clermont but as the sun came out it all melted away and we had a
beautiful evening for our cruise. We had 193 cruisers that registered tonight.
We think the warmer weather brought them out. The Eckler's Chevy Classic Club
were registering today for their show tomorrow. There were quite a few of them
and parking was at a minimum. However Allan and his great staff made room for
all of us and our regular cruise went on as usual. We arrived with our S 10
around 1:45 and Buzz and Sue were there to greet us. A lot of the cruisers from
the Chevy Club were already there. The early birds were a little slow coming in
but by 5 o'clock we had a full line. We are glad to see Stan back with his Pacer
again. Ted. our ace photographer, was busy taking pictures of the cruisers.
Remember you can see these great shots on our web site. Lee and Dave with their
happy attitude let us in on the brick street at 5 o'clock as promised they had
our regular parking spaces open for us. Thanks guys. Stan joined us at the
corner steakhouse, Dennis joined us there later. Then we headed out to see how
this cruise was shaping up.
We found Gary Lord from Quakertown, Pa. with his 1987 LSC model Avanti. This
cruiser is considered a luxury sports coupe and it is about a foot longer than
the regular model. They only made around a 100 of this type. Gary also has 2
other regular Avantis. His wife Susan was with him tonight and they will only be
in Florida 3 weeks but they definitely wanted to cruise at Old-Town.
Our friend Darrel, a regular Saturday night cruiser was visiting us tonight. We
think he is beginning to like Friday night cruise. Also visiting was Doug and
Joanne, regular cruisers, and our neighbors from down the street in Clermont,
Tim, Cindy and their son. We have a lot of regular visitors and we are proud of
that.
Jay Faust had his beautiful 2003 yellow Corvette on block 3. Universal Studio
wants to use this car for 4 days on their back lot starting this Sunday. They
have also used it on another occasion. These cruisers are on demand for certain
publicity events.
George arrived around 6:30 with his 2005 Yukon. George don't miss many cruises.
Also Cris was there with his 1975 white Pontiac. Cold weather keeps some of the
cruisers home but not the diehards. Block 4 was completely filled, they even
nudged a little closer to make more room. Toby and Ralph was there with their
beautiful PT Cruiser. Jon and Angie had their Pontiac Formula back again
tonight. Mike had his 1990 Corvette, also their were a few Scions on block 2.
The band on stage tonight was Wildlife with Jungle Brass. We think they were
here before but are not regulars.
The cruiser of the month for February are Ken and Audrey Hawk who have a 2006
Mustang. Of course they invited George with his Olds and Tony with his Corvette
to park with them. We congratulate Ken and Audrey for this honor and they also
got lucky and won a flag tonight.
Gary and Dave did a very good job announcing on stage tonight, however they
could not give our Cruise-O-Matic of $25.00 away tonight so it will go to $50.00
next week. Our 50/50 was $38.00 and went home to Clermont with Jimmy.
See you next week.
