story

We arrived at the office at 2pm earlier than usual to be told that the wedding vow renewal that we were expecting to take place this evening was in fact taking place at 3pm. We headed to Trophy Row, Gary had phoned to let us know he was running late, Allan updated us with the changes in the “set up” arrangements not wanting cones to appear in the wedding photos. Wolfman had his '03 F150 "Wolfwagon" parked north of the stage, Sue joined him later. We parked our '67 Dodge Dart 270 in it’s regular Wednesday spot, Bill & Doris arrived in their '79 T-Bird they had to find a temporary parking spot until the wedding vehicles vacated their regular spot, Stan & Maryann arrived in their '05 Escape.

Dwight arrived to get ready to perform the ceremony, wedding guests were arriving, Jan had decorated the stage, Doves were in their “love nest” waiting to be released. After Allan had performed the sound checks and Dwight started singing as he walked down the stairs from the “Blue Room”, Jean the Bride and her two maids made their entrance from Deac Hundley Blvd, Clive the Groom and his Groomsman took their place on the stage followed by Dwight they greeted the Bride as she arrived on the arm of Wolfman. After the ceremony and the traditional dance the Doves were released and cameras were flashing everywhere. Before they left Clive and Jean left a cake with Tonya at the “Tropical Breeze” to be distributed to all in attendance after the cruise drawings.

After the wedding party left Gary parked his '07 HHR Sherrod in it’s usual place and Bill moved their T-Bird next to it just in time for Dave in his '83 Grand Marquis to park next to them, Mesha & Chris joined him later. Mike managed to escape from work and joined us in his '63 Corvair Spyder. We headed to Flippers for our usual dinner time meal John was waiting for us. After we had sat down Ray arrived in his '32 Ford Coupe, followed by John in his '57 Chevy 210 shortly after Tom & Bunny arrived in her '68 Fairlane, they joined us for dinner after they were parked.

Pep & Nancy arrived in their '91 Mustang Convertible, Richard in his '99 Neon, Lynn in her '49 Ford Pickup and Rene in his Cadillac, Opera Coupe before we got back to Trophy Row if the arrivals continue at this rate we were in for a good sized car count. The evening was beautiful the temperature had risen into the 80’s during the sun filled day, rain was forecast but not until late night and/or early morning.

Ken arrived in his '76 International P/U, Lori was in her daily driver, Mike arrived in his '92 Sonoma, Rosemary & Dan parked her 2000 Mustang Convertible and informed us that her Mom had made it safely home. Gayle arrived in his '34 Ford Coupe, Raul in his '72 Pontiac Le Mans, Erin in his '86 Monte Carlo. Don, Pat & Harriett in their '39 Chevy parked next to Gayle, Ann & Vin brought out her '92 Corvette. Debbie arrived in her '99 "Elvis Tribute" Cavalier, Dave, Jo Ellen & Morgan were in their '08 Kia again tonight the '63 Avanti is still receiving TLC, Bert & Ernie parked next to us in their "Elvis Tribute" PT Cruiser, Ron joined us in his '63 Corvette, Jerry & Judy were in their '86 Fiero GT, Pete & Mary were in their 2005 PT Cruiser and last but not least Frank arrived in his '68 Corvette bringing the total number of Cruiser Cars to 28.

The spectators were arriving as steadily as the cars and the “Blue Suede Review” was set up on stage, Mike was in the “Blue Room” Tracy and Scotty were mingling, Donna had escaped from the leather store for a short break. Jan and Sue had the memorabilia table set up, when Dwight and Vicky arrived the entertainment started.

After the first set Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser# 39 Don & Pat Lemont with their friend Harriett in their '39 Chevy. Bunny did her usual great job selling 50/50 tickets we had two jackpots of $50 each the winning tickets were held by Judy a regular spectator from Lake Alfred and Cruiser Ken who donated his winnings back to the “kitty”, Thank you Ken. Cruiser #169 Ron Adamson was not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $50 next week. Rosemary & Dan in her 2000 Mustang Convertible had the lucky ticket for the Valvoline case of oil.

Mesha, Chris, Tracy, and I went in search of Tonya and the wedding cake left by Clive & Jean at the “Tropical Breeze” it did not take long for us to serve the cake to all who wanted a piece, Thank you Clive & Jean for including us in your celebration the cake was delicious. It was time for Dwight to return to the stage for the second set of his performance. A busy rewarding day in our “Home Town” was coming to an end, it was time for the weary travelers to head home.

Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town Merchants Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and Old Town Leather, Valvoline, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our volunteer TCB guy’s and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
