Tonight’s event was going to include a “Celebration of Joe Rodhouse’s Life” we arrived on Trophy Row about 2:05 pm in our '67 Dodge Dart 270, Gary & Kathy’s '07 HHR Sherrod, Dave’s '83 Grand Marquis, Darrell’s '66 LTD, Bert & Ernie’s '66 Comet Wagon, Lynn’s '49 Ford Pickup and Emil’s '48 Ford "High School Flame" were already parked. We were followed by Lori in her '06 Dodge Charger, Stan & Maryann in their '05 Escape, Bob in his '71 Camaro Z28, Tom & Bunny in their '66 Malibu, Roger in his '06 F150, Nick in his '72 Vega Wagon, Charlie in his '02 BMW Mini, Pep & Nancy in their '91 Mustang Convertible, Doug in his '78 El Camino, Pablo & Nilda in their '96 Taurus, Bill & Doris in their '87 Chevy S-10 and Laura in her '98 Firebird making 20 of our regular cruisers parked on Trophy Row before we headed to Flippers. Butch arrived in his '56 Chevy Del Ray as we crossed the street, he & Jennifer were assisting the family with Joe’s memorial being held in suite 156, while we were eating Wolfman & Sue arrived in their '03 F150 "Wolfwagon", Rich in his '87 El Camino, John in his '57 Chevy 210, Fran in her '95 Camaro and George in his '56 Olds.

The vehicles arrived steadily all evening until our 48 regular and semi regular cruisers were joined by Friday and Saturday Nite Cruisers and a representation of Thursday Nite Bikers bringing the final total of vehicles in position to cruise Deac Hundley Blvd at 8 pm to 147. The schedule was juggled slightly to accommodate the cruise, Dwight took a short break after he introduced Steve.

Cruiser of the week was awarded to Cruiser #40 Gene & Diane Payne with their '28 Studebaker. Bunny and Laura did a great job selling 50/50 tickets Roger a regular spectator from Orlando had the winning ticket for the $327 jackpot. Cruiser #169 Ron Adamson was not out so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $75 next week. The Valvoline case of oil went home with David Donaldson in his ’32 Ford.

Steve handed the mike back to Dwight who finished his first set and sang “Amazing Grace” at the request of the Rodhouse family. Joe’s family led the cruise in Joe’s cruiser for this wonderful tribute to Joe. As family and friends re-grouped to share memories and enjoy refreshments Dwight returned to the stage to complete his performance, he was accompanied by “The Blue Suede Review” with Shawn on lead guitar, Tommy on the keyboard, Jimi on the drums and Paul on bass guitar. Vicky, Jan & Sue were at the memorabilia table, Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue Room”, Gary, Dave, Tracy and Scotty were kept busy all evening along with Allan, Esther, Nicky, Mesha & Chris, Thank you all for an excellent job.

The spectator crowd was large and included many regulars like “Jazzmine and The Tropical Breeze Group”, Clive & Jean who recently renewed their wedding vows spent the evening with us, they will be heading home soon. Larry & Linda joined us for dinner, Snowbirds John & Sandy Foster arrived for their first cruise of the season with us, Sue & Ian brought their son Scott to visit us he enjoyed the cars and cruised with Gary in the “General Lee”.

Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week, to the Old Town Merchants Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of This World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives & Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound ‘N Around and Old Town Leather, Valvoline, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary & Dave our volunteer TCB guy’s and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
