We arrived at Old
Town earlier than usual Laura NO4OO was waiting for us, along with
"Red Racer" Ted KE4TTE and Larry WA3PGL. Today’s assignment was to
attach the cable to the antenna then move the antenna to it’s final
place. It doesn’t sound like much but for Laura who was suspended 50
feet in the air it was a considerable task which she completed
successfully. Ted took over and installed the cable into the
storeroom above Wound ‘n Around ready for the arrival of the
repeater on Saturday.
Gary arrived and parked his '07 HHR Sherrod by the stage, about 3 pm
Steve moved our '67 Dodge Dart 270 onto Trophy Row. Laura and I made
a quick run to Joann’s when we returned Tom & Bunny had parked her
'68 Fairlane, Bill & Doris had their '79 T-Bird next to Garry, Chris
had brought out his '75 Formula 400, Dave had parked his '63 Avanti
and was waiting for Jo Ellen & Morgan to join him. Laura parked her
'98 Firebird and we went to meet up with Steve, Ted, Tom and Bunny
at Flippers John was taking care of everyone’s drinks and meal
orders.
There was quite a steady flow of arrivals while we ate John in his
'57 Chevy 210, Rich in his '87 El Camino, Ray in his '32 Ford Coupe,
Stan & Maryann in his '05 Escape, Dave in his '83 Grand Marquis,
Pablo & Nilda in their '72 VW, Lynn in her '49 Ford Pickup, Bob in
his '71 Camaro Z28 followed by Nick in his '32 Ford Coupe, Rosemary
& Dan in her 2000 Mustang Convertible. What a pity it was not our
scheduled week to cruise it was only 5 pm and we already had 17
vehicles parked on Trophy Row.
When we arrived back we welcomed a regular spectator Lori with her
Friday Nite Cruiser an '06 Dodge Charger, Tommy had arrived while I
was “missing” and set up his keyboard, other band members were
arriving and setting up, we had Joey standing in for Jimi on the
drums tonight and a stand in guitarist who’s name I did not get,
Paul and his guitar were with us and Peter Alden would arrive with
Arnie.
Gayle arrived in his '34 Ford Coupe, Mike & Seth were in their '92
Sonoma, Don, Pat & Harriett arrived in the '39 Chevy, John & Janice
in their '48 Chevy P/U, Gene, Diane, Betty & Dave in the '28
Studebaker, Tony & Donna in their '65 Mustang, Pete & Mary in their
2005 PT Cruiser, Debbie in her '99 "Elvis Tribute" Cavalier, Ken &
Wanda were in their '78 "Indy Pace Car" Corvette, Frank was in his
'68 Corvette, Kevin arrived in his '98 GMC Pick Up followed by
Miguel in his '68 Fairlane we had a total of 31 Cruiser Cars.
Cruisers without vehicles included Doug, Wolfman & Sue, Fred & Betty
and Ron.
The spectator crowd was building and included Mary & Larry with
Shirley & Alan “Navy Parents” their son is serving on the USS
Cleveland, in preparation for next week they had brought out
Christmas cards to be signed for delivery to active service men &
women. The “Tropical Breeze Group”, Anna, Shirley & June were
sitting in their regular places, welcome back Snowbird spectators
Dale & Myrna, Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue
Room”, Gary & Dave, Tracy and Scotty were busy as usual, Radio Check
Ins included Graham G4HFG, Emil KJ4GNH, T Rod KT4ROD.
After Peter’s first set Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser
# 140 Gayle Weeks with his '34 Ford Coupe.
Valvoline is donating a case of oil for a cruiser, please make sure
you get your “Oil Ticket” from me when you arrive, this weeks lucky
cruisers were Pete and Mary Hauff in their 2005 PT Cruiser.
Bunny did such a great job selling 50/50 tickets we split the
Jackpot into two $50 prizes, Frank a spectator and I had the winning
tickets.
The highlight of tonight’s event was the $300 Cruise-A-Matic which
was being drawn until someone won. The Nineth Cruiser Number drawn
was the winner, Cruiser# 48 Bunny & Tom Jaggers in her '68 Fairlane.
Congratulations to you both and commiserations to those who were not
present when their numbers were drawn.
