story

We arrived at Old Town earlier than usual Laura NO4OO was waiting for us, along with "Red Racer" Ted KE4TTE and Larry WA3PGL. Today’s assignment was to attach the cable to the antenna then move the antenna to it’s final place. It doesn’t sound like much but for Laura who was suspended 50 feet in the air it was a considerable task which she completed successfully. Ted took over and installed the cable into the storeroom above Wound ‘n Around ready for the arrival of the repeater on Saturday.

Gary arrived and parked his '07 HHR Sherrod by the stage, about 3 pm Steve moved our '67 Dodge Dart 270 onto Trophy Row. Laura and I made a quick run to Joann’s when we returned Tom & Bunny had parked her '68 Fairlane, Bill & Doris had their '79 T-Bird next to Garry, Chris had brought out his '75 Formula 400, Dave had parked his '63 Avanti and was waiting for Jo Ellen & Morgan to join him. Laura parked her '98 Firebird and we went to meet up with Steve, Ted, Tom and Bunny at Flippers John was taking care of everyone’s drinks and meal orders.

There was quite a steady flow of arrivals while we ate John in his '57 Chevy 210, Rich in his '87 El Camino, Ray in his '32 Ford Coupe, Stan & Maryann in his '05 Escape, Dave in his '83 Grand Marquis, Pablo & Nilda in their '72 VW, Lynn in her '49 Ford Pickup, Bob in his '71 Camaro Z28 followed by Nick in his '32 Ford Coupe, Rosemary & Dan in her 2000 Mustang Convertible. What a pity it was not our scheduled week to cruise it was only 5 pm and we already had 17 vehicles parked on Trophy Row.

When we arrived back we welcomed a regular spectator Lori with her Friday Nite Cruiser an '06 Dodge Charger, Tommy had arrived while I was “missing” and set up his keyboard, other band members were arriving and setting up, we had Joey standing in for Jimi on the drums tonight and a stand in guitarist who’s name I did not get, Paul and his guitar were with us and Peter Alden would arrive with Arnie.

Gayle arrived in his '34 Ford Coupe, Mike & Seth were in their '92 Sonoma, Don, Pat & Harriett arrived in the '39 Chevy, John & Janice in their '48 Chevy P/U, Gene, Diane, Betty & Dave in the '28 Studebaker, Tony & Donna in their '65 Mustang, Pete & Mary in their 2005 PT Cruiser, Debbie in her '99 "Elvis Tribute" Cavalier, Ken & Wanda were in their '78 "Indy Pace Car" Corvette, Frank was in his '68 Corvette, Kevin arrived in his '98 GMC Pick Up followed by Miguel in his '68 Fairlane we had a total of 31 Cruiser Cars. Cruisers without vehicles included Doug, Wolfman & Sue, Fred & Betty and Ron.

The spectator crowd was building and included Mary & Larry with Shirley & Alan “Navy Parents” their son is serving on the USS Cleveland, in preparation for next week they had brought out Christmas cards to be signed for delivery to active service men & women. The “Tropical Breeze Group”, Anna, Shirley & June were sitting in their regular places, welcome back Snowbird spectators Dale & Myrna, Mike Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue Room”, Gary & Dave, Tracy and Scotty were busy as usual, Radio Check Ins included Graham G4HFG, Emil KJ4GNH, T Rod KT4ROD.

After Peter’s first set Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to Cruiser # 140 Gayle Weeks with his '34 Ford Coupe.

Valvoline is donating a case of oil for a cruiser, please make sure you get your “Oil Ticket” from me when you arrive, this weeks lucky cruisers were Pete and Mary Hauff in their 2005 PT Cruiser.

Bunny did such a great job selling 50/50 tickets we split the Jackpot into two $50 prizes, Frank a spectator and I had the winning tickets.
The highlight of tonight’s event was the $300 Cruise-A-Matic which was being drawn until someone won. The Nineth Cruiser Number drawn was the winner, Cruiser# 48 Bunny & Tom Jaggers in her '68 Fairlane. Congratulations to you both and commiserations to those who were not present when their numbers were drawn.
