We arrived on
Trophy Row just after 3:00 pm in our '67 Dodge Dart 270, Gary had
his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the stage, it was “dreary” the rain
had stopped but it was damp and overcast this did not bode well for
a large turnout. We headed for the office Tracy informed us of the
secondary plan for the wedding if the weather caused the “On Stage”
ceremony to be cancelled. Gary had his '07 HHR Sherrod parked by the
stage, Dave arrived in his '83 Grand Marquis and we headed to
Flippers were we had Mike, John and Trish take great care of us.
When the roads are wet it is not always safe for cruisers to bring
out their cruising vehicles so quite a few of our regulars did not
venture out, we found out on Saturday that many areas had received a
lot of rain and in some areas it was still raining. We encouraged
our cruisers to park their daily drivers south of the stage on
Trophy Row this gave us an unusual mix of Vehicles. We had 9
vehicles registered to cruise on a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday and
4 Daily Drivers. Friday Nite Vehicles included Stan & Maryann in
their '05 Escape, Richard in his '99 Neon and Lori in her '06 Dodge
Charger. Laura arrived with her Mom Mary & Bob in her '98 Firebird,
George arrived in his '56 Olds, Debbie was in her '99 "Elvis
Tribute" Cavalier and Bert & Laverne were in their '66 Comet Wagon.
Because of the heavy rain when they left home Bill & Doris brought
out their '07 Buick, Tom & Bunny had to traverse flooded roads so
brought out their '02 Dodge, Lynn still has no wipers on her Pick Up
so came out in her '08 Avalanche, Wolfman & Sue have the "Wolfwagon"
packed away ready for their imminent departure, they will be joining
Dwight & Vicky on the Sea Cruise.
Thank you, one and all for your support this includes our regular
spectators who come with their chairs and umbrellas to enjoy an
evening with friends and great entertainment. The Blue Suede Review
had set up their instruments, Mike was at the controls of the Blue
Room, Jan and Sue had the memorabilia table set up, Bunny was
selling 50/50 tickets, the stage was set for Dwight and Vicky to
arrive.
The rain had finally stopped and it was a cool but pleasant evening,
as the first set was drawing to a close Dwight brought Beth Eby the
Bride & Scott Turner the Groom (and drummer Jimi’s brother in law)
on to the stage and introduced them to the audience, he then
proceeded to perform the wedding ceremony, check out the video on
YouTube. After the wedding party took their leave and headed for
their reception at the Blue Max, Steve awarded Cruiser of the Week
to Cruiser # 176 Lori in her '06 Dodge Charger, the case of oil went
home with Bert & Laverne in their '66 Comet Wagon, Bunny had the
winning ticket for the 50/50 jackpot of $30. For various reasons the
Cruise A Matic of $25 is being held over to next week.
