We would like to
thank everyone cruisers, spectators, staff, merchants and
entertainers who participated in tonight’s celebration marking one
year for the “Duke Davis Memorial Cruise-In” to meet at Old Town
during their “Rock at the Clock” event.
As we drove to Old Town we encountered some rain and the skies were
not looking good but as always we were optimistic. Our first stop
was at the office to get the commemorative pins from Tracy then as
we headed back towards the brick street to make our entrance in our
'67 Dodge Dart 270 we met up with Emil in his '48 Ford "High School
Flame" at the Cruise Office Mesha, Nikki & Gary were getting ready
to “Set Up” for the evenings event along with Allan and Scotty.
Gary parked his '07 HHR Sherrod next to the stage, Bill & Doris
parked their '79 T-Bird next to him, Larry & Gator arrived in their
'93 Chevy Pick Up and Dave arrived in his '83 Grand Marquis, Esther
& Asa joined him later. We decided to head to Flippers as the rain
had let up and we hoped to have a busy evening ahead of us. Tommy
drove by to set up his keyboard, Larry & Andrew brought out their
'55 Chevy Bel Air, Charlie joined us after parking his '02 BMW Mini,
Tom arrived at the wheel of the '66 Malibu and Bunny was driving the
'87 Chevy Suburban. Mike and Nikki took care of us then we headed
back to Trophy Row stopping in to see some of the Merchants on the
way.
Laura arrived in her '98 Firebird, John & Linda in their '32 Ford
Coupe, Warren & Cathy in their 2002 Camaro Pace Car, TRod KT4ROD,
Ray in his '32 Ford Coupe, Robert & Francine in their '65 Ford
Falcon, Bert & Ernie in their "Elvis Tribute" PT Cruiser, Mike &
Seth in their '92 Sonoma, Rosemary & Dan in her 2000 Mustang
Convertible, David & Janet in a '67 Plymouth Satellite, Bob in his
'68 SS396 Chevelle followed by Nick in his '32 Ford Coupe they had
to wait for a break in the rain to head out. "Red Racer" Ted left
his '06 Nissan at home so he could concentrate on taking pictures,
Joe was in his '63 Ford Galaxie, Cousin Vinny in his '04 Dodge
Dakota, Sean in his 2005 Nissan Xterra, Hecmaeli in his 2005 Scion.
John brought out his '57 Chevy 210, Richard & Lelia were in their
'64 Fairlane, Butch in his '96 Mustang, Billy in his '72 AMC AMX,
Juan was in his '66 VW Notchback and Juan was on foot, Bob in his
2007 Corvette, Tim in his '87 Olds Cutlass, Larry & Cris were in
their daily driver.
The spectator crowd included many of our regulars “Jazzmine and The
Tropical Breeze Group”. Glenda, Carlene & Don, Coy, Judy, Sophie &
Paul, Bonnie, Jan, “The Blue Suede Review” with Shawn as lead guitar
& Sarah, Tommy on the keyboard, Keith standing in for Jimi on the
drums and Paul on bass guitar. Bill & Karen set up the memorabilia
table Dwight & Vicky arrived. Many of the ladies were wearing their
Poodle Skirts including Vicky. Mary & Larry accompanied by staff
from the Florida Living Nursing Center escorted eight residents who
had been looking forward to and planning this outing for weeks. Mike
Singer KJ4GNI was at the controls of the “Blue Room”. Radio Check
Ins included Graham G4HFG, Mike N4HHA who had to turn around and go
to work after being almost at Old Town, Tony K4AVD.
After Dwight’s first set Steve awarded Cruiser of the week to
The Skord Family: Dave, Esther, Mesha and Asa, in their
'83 Mercury Grand Marquis, Cruiser # 97 Dan Zappico was not out
so the Cruise-A-Matic goes up to $225.00 next week. Bunny did a
great job selling 50/50 tickets Sheri from West Virginia had the
winning ticket for the $57.00 jackpot.
We had a total of 32 Cruiser Cars ready to Cruise the bricks at 8:30
pm after Dwight’s second set they were led by “The Poodle Skirt
Ladies” including Tracy, Mesha, Bunny, Jan and Jazzmine.

Association for sponsoring “A Tribute to the King”, to Out of This
World Embroidery/Custom Tags, The Old Town General Store, Knives &
Things, Toy Time, Electronic Town, The Gold Hut, Kandlestiks, Wound
‘N Around and Old Town Leather, to Tracy Old Town’s Events Director
who brings us the “Rock at the Clock” event to Gary& Dave our
volunteer TCB guy’s and to all of the Spectators and Cruisers with
or without their cars, who come out “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” to
make this a great evening in our “Home Town”.
