Rain or Shine, 52 Weeks a year!
Old Town Shopping Attraction.
5770 West 192
Kissimmee, Florida

It was a beautiful day in Central Florida, so what if the temps were 10 degrees below normal the Sunshine sure made it nice. Linda & I would be a little behind schedule, Steve Mc was out of town on a trip with Cheryl and Mike's Corvair is still broken. it would be just about 2:00 when we would arrive at the gate. Lee was at the gate and didn't recognize us in our 'new" '67 Dodge Dart, I guess we'll have to name it "Cog Neato" because it was as though we were incognito. Most people wouldn't know it was us. We would make the turn at Old Town Clock, Joe would be on his kart by the Bull , Juan Morales, our November 2008 "Cruiser of the Month" would be parked in his place of honor. Dave was by the Cruise office to register the Cruisers. We could see that Emil, KJ4GNH, was already in a spot next to ours in his '48 Ford. Graham, G4HFG from Oldham, England came in over the radio as we crossed Florida Plaza. Brian would be the next to join in on Block 4 with his '66 Chevelle, Linda would drop the gate for Conrad & Samantha that were in the 1NFT57 while I was giving Emil ideas on how to fix his internet connection at home, he was really in the dog house over that. Then we had an invasion on Block 4, it looked like a Model A invasion followed by an assortment of other great looking cars including a few T-Birds and 1 '63 Impala. It was a club from Tampa that were making a weekend run to Old Town. Bill L would come down to see our car, it was sure good to see him out in his '55 Chevy and only using a cane. I bet it won't be long and he won't have that either.

It was time to take our first stroll up "Trophy Row" to see who else was in town. Emil would hold down the fort. There were several cars that had not been out in a while but by the time we made it to Block 2 many of the regulars were in place. Butch would have his '64 Comet in the "Looney Bin". Larry would be in his '47 Chevy,  James had his  "Firebird" parked in block 2. Many of the "Redline Rodders" were in their usual spots. Don & Jackie had their Mustang convertible, Karen and the Kids would be behind the stairs.  Tony & Marianne were in front of them, their SS454 Monte Carlo was across from them by Russ' Chevelle. Darrell has his LTD North of the stage. Mike would drive by us in his FAAAST 'Vette to take his spot in Block 1 the other Amigos would arrive a little later. Morris would be just North of them in "My 2nd 50". Bill would be back in his '53 Ford pickup, in the first spot at the top of Block 1. he had been doing Grandpa duties the last few weeks. As we made our way back Pablo & Nilda would take the spot North of the stage with their VW. John would be on the East side of Block 2 with his '57 Chevy 210, Ray would join him later in his '32 Ford.

After we made our way back down to the car we would visit with all that arrived in Block 4. Mark would park his "Blown to Be Wild" '63 Falcon across from us and it was time to head out to "Flippers" for dinner so it was back up "Trophy Row" again, this time Emil would come along with us. When we reached the top of Block 3 Dave D would arrive in his "Mint Julep" '57 Chevy convertible. Linda would stop to chat with Butch who was in the "Looney Bin" with his  '64 Comet, Bob & Marge would have their '65 Rambler Ambassador convertible in his spot. We would find Charlie  near the top of Block 1 and he would join us in side for dinning tonight.  We even surprised Jane who would take care of us in her usual fashion. There wasn't anyone dinning alfresco tonight, it was a little chilly out side. Even John, Ray & Rich came in doors. The cars kept rolling into "Town" when we were there. "Red Racer" Ted, KE4TTE would join us, even  Bill & Doris would dine in.

On our walk back to Block 4 the top 2 Blocks were near capacity and the cars kept a coming. John B would have his '66 Vette in Block 3. Don & Tara would bring out A Camaro and a Chevy II I think, it is hard to figure out what cars are theirs sometimes. Gary & Wanda would be out in their '55 Chevy Tony & Donna would be out in their Mustang, Doug & Trish would be in the Bronco. Tom & Chris would have the Corvette nearby. The rest of the night flew by with all of the people that stopped by to see who was parked in our spot and to check out the new car. Jim C that was out in his Challenger had to welcome me on becoming one of the "Dodge Boys".

Esther stopped by with the "Flag Winners" just after 8:20, Juan Morales, our November 2008 "Cruiser of the Month" in his '55 Chevrolet 3100 pickup was led by Dave & Lee followed by the cars from the top 3 Blocks to block 4 that becomes the "Staging Area" for Old Town's signature event. Mike Singer, KJ4GNI, who had been at the controls of the "Blue Room", playing a mix of nostalgic music and radio "Jingles", gave the safety announcements, played the National Anthem, "Wolfman Jack" proclaimed, "It's the Saturday Nite Cruise", for this the 962nd running of this traditionThe Cruisers made the turn at "Kids Town" on to the "Bricks" of "Deac Hundley Avenue", Mike Singer announced the Flag Winners as the rest of the 240 cars in parade formation cruised past, delighting a very large crowd of cheering spectators along both sides of the Avenue. "Rain or Shine" every Saturday night of the year, there is nothing quite like it for the "Cruisers" and it is always a treat for those watching it from the sidewalks and boulevards.

Thank you Old Town for letting us, the curators of this "Rolling Display of Automotive History", the cars that are the "Stars", to be their guests this evening. Thank you to the Old Town Merchants Association and the Sponsors of this event, "Valvoline", the "General Store", the "A&W", "Out of this World Embroidery", "Wound 'N Around", Pepsi, Roberts Brothers, the "Tropical Breeze" & "Flippers" just to name a few. Thank you to Allan, Joe, Ron, Gary Lee, Dave, Esther, Miguel, Mesha, Chrisanne and the entire Cruise Staff and fellow Cruisers for making our 313th consecutive Saturday a fun and safe one.
