Rain or Shine, 52 Weeks a year!
Old Town Shopping Attraction.
5770 West 192
Kissimmee, Florida

Linda & I would head out on 192 today Steve, K4SKM in his '29 Ford Model A Sport Coupe was headed for a quick visit with Werner on his way out. When we arrived Gary was at the point, Kathy was by the Haunted House to register the Cruisers.  We couldn't help but notice the new "Cones" the old orange ones have now been replaced new Black ones that have a florescent "Safety Wrap".  As we made the turn at Old Town Clock in our '61 Corvair, Bill Mabry, our October 2008 "Cruiser of the Month" would be parked in his place of honor. Emil, KJ4GNH, over from the West Coast in his  "High School Flame" was parked next to him. The "Looney Bin"  had Bob in his GMC pickup, Mike in his '65 GTO, Larry in his '47 Chevy and a '57 Ford. Cris & Larry were across from them in their Mustang and Butch in the '64 Comet. Gary & Kathy's Fairlane was next to the carport. Allan would drop the gate for us so that we could enter Block 4. Paul & Pat were already parked by the South end of the overhang in their '58 DeSoto, it sure was good to see them back at Old Town. Maybe now that it is a little cooler we'll see more of them. It wasn't long before Steve Mc caught up with us and parked. Allan had the Jo Jo Tug Along out, CJ and Cordell took a few test spins on it to try out the T-Handle modification. Bill & Doris would stop by for their visit before heading on up to join the people under the stairs. Conrad & Jackie would take his favorite spot with the 1NFT57 Pickup. Bob would back his '68 SS396 Chevelle next in line, Nick & Fran would follow suit with their '32 Ford 5 Window Coupe. It was time to take our first stroll up "Trophy Row" to see who else was in town. There were several cars that had not been out in a while but by the time we made it to Block 2 many of the regulars were in place. John & Terri had their Mustang next to Russ and Phyllis' Chevelle. James had his  "Firebird" parked in block 2. Many of the "Redline Rodders" were in their usual spots. Don & Jackie were next to the stairs in their Mustang convertible, Karen and the Kids would be behind them. Pablo & Nilda would would have their VW across the way. Morris had his "My Second 50" parked near the top of Block 1 next to Bob's '63 Corvair. Graham, G4HFG from Oldham, England came in over the radio for the first of several times through out the day. Bob & Marge would back their '65 Rambler Ambassador convertible into his spot as we made our way back down to the car. Across from them was John in his '57 Chevy and of course Ray's '32 Ford.

Roberta the "Beer Lady" was doing a fine business.  Dave & Nancy would be out in the '59 Edsel. Dan Z was nearby in the '41 Willys. Doc & Cara would be in the "Mach 1" Suzanne would join them later. It was time, you guessed it, dinner at "Flippers", Dave D would join the 3 of us and we would dine alfresco. Others that would join in on the patio included John & Rich, Pep & Nancy, Lyn and Jim K. Even Emil & Charlie. Mark would bring his "Blown to Be Wild" '63 Falcon while we were eating. Jane took great care of us as usual. On our way back down, even more of the regulars were now in place, Bert & Ernie would be out in their Comet Wagon. Lynn would have the '49 Ford near the stage. Louie would be out in his '50 Ford, "Cousin John" in his Caddy. Coy & Denise were spotted looking at the cars and visiting. Roger & Sue would take spots at the bottom of Block 3, Shane would be out in his '57 Chevy.

Once we were back in Block 4 the cars kept rolling in. Our own "3 Stooges" Bob in his '36 Ford Humpback, "Bo" in his Corvair and John R in his Mustang would make their way to the area behind the roller coaster. Neil & Elaine would have their '60 Corvette across from us. Joe & Penny stopped by with some great news. I'll go into that in a later issue. "Red Racer" Ted, KE4TTE would be out shooting everyone and everything, with his trusty camera. Almost 400 of them and of course he'll do his slideshow for posting on YouTube. Steve & Carol stopped by for a minute, they had their '67 Camaro out tonight. Mark was out in his "Junkyard Jewel" and I even spotted John B in his '66 Vette. The rest of the night just flew by from that point, I know I have missed a few Cruisers. it was Blur time, as in the night flew by from this point on.

Esther and Cordell stopped by with the "Flag Winners" just after 8:20, Bill Mabry, our October 2008 "Cruiser of the Month" in his '53 Ford pickup "Showtime", I think I even spotted his wife Lynn riding with him. was led by Dave, Lee & Kathy followed by the rest of the cars from the top 3 Blocks to block 4 that becomes the "Staging Area" for Old Town's signature event. Mike Singer, KJ4GNI, who had been at the controls of the "Blue Room", playing a mix of nostalgic music and radio "Jingles", gave the safety announcements. Played the National Anthem, "Wolfman Jack" proclaimed, "It's the Saturday Nite Cruise", for this the 957th* running of this traditionThe Cruisers made the turn at "Kids Town" on to the "Bricks" of "Deac Hundley Avenue", Mike Singer announced the Flag Winners as the rest of the 238 cars in parade formation cruised past, delighting a very large crowd of cheering spectators along both sides of the Avenue. "Rain or Shine" every Saturday night of the year, there is nothing quite like it for the "Cruisers" and it is always a treat for those watching it from the sidewalks and boulevards.

Thank you Old Town for letting us, the curators of this "Rolling Display of Automotive History", the cars that are the "Stars", to be their guests this evening. Thank you to the Old Town Merchants Association and the Sponsors of this event, "Valvoline", the "General Store", the "A&W", "Out of this World Embroidery" "Wound 'N Around", Pepsi, Roberts Brothers, the "Tropical Breeze" & "Flippers" just to name a few. Thank you to Allan, Joe, Ron, Gary Kathy, Lee, Dave, Esther, Miguel, Mesha, Chrisanne and the entire Cruise Staff and fellow Cruisers for making our 308th consecutive Saturday a fun and safe one.

On to the "Flag Winners".

Tonight's random drawing winners received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag" and the new "Clock Pin", along with $25 cash, A Case of Oil from Valvoline and a drink from the Tropical Breeze.

Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
