November 14th 2008
We arrived at Old Town a little later than usual. Buzz
and Sue with their Ford and Bill Hunter and his patriotic truck were
already in line. Stan and his Pacer was next to come in. We got to park
on the brick street earlier than usual. Seven of the PT Cruiser Club
were parked on block 4. Gerald and his Pontiac and Jon and Angie with
their Pontiac were parked among them. Tom and Sue also stopped by to
visit but not cruising tonight. Robert and Melissa migrated down from
Erie, Pa. and bought this beautiful red one ton truck new. They now
reside in Lakeland and this is their second time out to Old Town to show
off their cruiser. A very unusual cruiser was with us tonight, this is a
trike motorcycle but is the size of a car. Tony Pannuty built this
beautiful cruiser from scratch. It is a 1970 model and is powered by a
1970 motor which is a 460 and gets about 11 miles to a gal. Tony and his
buddy are both bikers. You can never tell what you will find at an Old
Town cruise. Stop by any Wednesday, Friday or Saturday and check us out.
Pablo and Nilda are cruisers of the month and chose Bert and Laverne,
with their Elvis Cruiser, to park with them in this honored spot. George
and George, Tony, Audrey and Ken were heading to their favorite dining
spot, (Kool Katz). George took time to show us pictures of his and Mary
Lou's 50th wedding anniversary. We congratulate both of you.
Our friend and fellow cruiser, Ed Guglich is coming along slow after his
operation. We hope and pray he gets well soon and back to cruising with
us again. Our Friday night dancers were enjoying the Peanut Butter Co.
Band. Many of the regular spectators and cruisers were enjoying the
band.
We had a special treat tonight, around 5 minutes to 8 the space shuttle
was to blast off. It was a beautiful sight to see for a short while
until it went behind a cloud cover and that was that.
Tom and Shirley Lee from Ontario surprised us with a visit. They always
look for us when they come down. They live in Sault Ste Marie and own
the Windy Lake Lodge. He now has 2 1968 Buick Wildcats and hopes to fix
them up and cruise with us again. We do attract visitors from all over.
One of our younger cruisers, Josh found us and showed us a picture of
his twins that are 3 mo. old now. We hope they don't keep him too busy
to cruise. Congratulations to him and his wife.
Ed Gangwisch was a very happy cruiser tonight. He has won trophies with
his beautiful Pontiac but he has been cruising since 2001 and won his
first flag at Old Town tonight. Way to go Ed.
Our 50/50 of $81.00 went to Tony (the loser). He bought 10 tickets. Our
Cruise-O-Matic will go to $100.00 next week. No takers tonight. We had
178 registered cruisers tonight.
We want to congratulate a dedicated worker and a very good friend of all
at Old-Town, he doesn't like to be in the spot light but Happy Birthday
Scotty. We all love you and God Bless you. Thanks for just being Scotty.
See you next week!
