Welcome to the first Friday night cruise of August. 2008 is
half over and we are wondering where it went. Our trip to Old-Town from
Clermont was dry but many of our cruisers had rain at home or on the
way. We arrived at Old Town around one o'clock and Buzz and Sue were
there to greet us, also Ralph and Shirley were there to visit for awhile
but they left around 5 o'clock. Stan and Maryann came in and after that
the rains came in. By 4 o'clock the sun came out and we had a beautiful
night for our 110 cruisers to enjoy what Old Town has to offer.
We have a new cruiser of the month, Joe Ness received the honor for
August with his 1988 Ford Ranger. He has been having some trouble with
his truck but he got it back on the road in time to be in the honored
spot that Allan had picked out for the cruiser of the month. Joe has
decked the bed out in a Margaritaville theme and with his many lights it
is a very interesting cruiser. His best friend Penny was also with him
tonight.
Tom Coupe who has been having a lot of trouble with his truck, and he
still has not found the trouble, stopped by to chat with us tonight. We
miss him on block 4 where he usually parks. We also miss Buzz and Sue on
block 4, they decided to park next to cruiser of the month.
Ted our ace photographer was also parked near but he did not cruise. He
was very busy taking pictures for our Cruise News and the web site. You
can view these pictures on Steve Butler's web site. You never know who
you might see, maybe even yourself. This is a very interesting web site.
Being as Buzz was not on block 4, Bert and Laverne, with their beautiful
2007 PT Cruiser took his place. He is using an Elvis theme and has added
some lights under the front end.
Toby Buck was close behind with his PT Cruiser which we call the frog
man. Also another PT cruiser was next in line. We were very glad to see
Dave and Bev with their HHR and Gerald made it out with his pickup, his
Pontiac is not ready for the road yet.
Jay had his 2002 yellow and black Corvette on the street tonight. A
couple of spectators got in his car last week and were pushing and
playing with the buttons so Jay was staying very close to his car
tonight. We want to remind everyone that these are SHOW CARS and not
play cars. If you see a 2006 Orange Mustang with a driver dressed in the
same color orange, that would be Bob Wagner with his wife Norma. They
bought this Mustang new. Bob has always had convertibles.
Ken and Audry along with Tony, one of the Losers, were on block 3 but
not their favorite spot, however they were happy to be out with us. We
caught up with George and George and they had just dined at their
favorite restaurant, Kool Katz.
Josh with his 1997 Honda Accord made it out tonight. He and his wife are
expecting twins any day now. We congratulate them and hope them the
best. Doug came by to visit but did not have his El Camino. It was
in the shop getting the hood painted. The regular under the stairs gang
were in place by the stage enjoying Old Town entertainment, and we are
off to another month of fun. We want to thank Old-Town, our great staff
for all they do for our cruisers. Also we want to thank the many
spectators who come out to view our beautiful vehicles.
Our 50/50 was $42.00 and went home with ticket no. 29413. Our
Cruise-O-Matic will go to $100.00 next week. No takers tonight.
See you all next week.
