Mother nature smiled on us tonight, we had a beautiful
night for our last July cruise. We had 159 registered cruisers and a
very good crowd of spectators. Bert and Laverne are getting their new
toy, their 2007 PT Cruiser, all decked out with the Elvis theme.
Laverne is the number one Elvis fan. With the music notes on the sides,
steering wheel cover, seat covers and floor mats, they have a very nice
looking cruiser.
Stan had his Pacer back on the street tonight. Maryann stopped by for a
chat after work. Their granddaughter was also with them. This is Bob
Butler's last Friday night as Cruiser of the month. It will be good to
see him back on the street again with his 2005 SSR. Toby Buck, known as
the frogman made it out tonight with his PT Cruiser. He was the only one
of his group to cruise with us tonight.
Gerald was back on block 4 tonight after being away for awhile. He
informed us that he had lost his wife and had to spend some time in
Kentucky. He has our deepest sympathy and wish him the best of luck.
Paul Harrold with his black 1987 Buick visited us tonight. This car has
a 579 Horse power motor and it eats the gas. With gas prices high, he
only comes down once a month. The group that hang around the stairs near
the stage were altogether tonight enjoying the T Birds on stage. Chuck
and Linda White had their 2 beautiful Corvettes out tonight. Chuck got
lucky and won a flag. Ryan Fontaine also made it out tonight. Work keeps
him away a lot. Ken and Audry had their 2006 Mustang in their favorite
spot. Audry was wiping the car and Ken was sitting on the bench. She
informed us, (it was her car).
Jay Faust brought out his 2002 Corvette. This cruiser is yellow and
black. His son had designed it and there is nothing stock on this
cruiser. The valve covers are air brushed. He also had a picture of his
son sand blasted on the under side of the hood. He had this done, (in
memory of his son).
Our friend Tracy who manages the entertainment at Old Town introduced us
to Jody Kalman. This lady is with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She
informed us that they are having a cruise August 15th, they call it (Cruisin
for the Cure). This cruise in open to all exotic and car clubs. This is
for a very good cause. Also the Ferraro Cup Challenge who are a branch
of the Central Florida Ferrari Club will be there.
We had a lot of small guests tonight. The Central Florida Smart Cars
paid us a visit. These little cars are practical and economical, They
are manufactured in France and this is their first year in America. They
are powered by a one liter 3 cylinder engine. They informed us that they
get around 36 miles to a gallon around town.
Two of our flag winners did not show up so Joe had 2 numbers drawn to
receive the oil. They went to cruisers 961 and 862. The 50/50 was $62.00
and ticket no. 27418 was the lucky winner. No takers for the
cruise-O-Matic.
See you all next week.
