Our 10th anniversary cruise just happened to fall on
Friday the 13th, however, it was a very lucky day for our 236 cruisers
that registered for our cruise tonight. Thanks to the weatherman, our
staff, Old Town itself and all the wonderful spectators who came out to
see our beautiful cruisers, we had a record attendance tonight and
beautiful weather for our Anniversary Cruise. Before we get into the
cruise we want to thank a very good friend, and maybe the founder of the
Friday Night Cruise. George, owner of Tropical Breeze, had a very good
idea 10 years ago to start a Friday Night Cruise. As you can see it has
been a big success. Tonight Allan honored him with a well deserved
plaque. Thank you George, Allan and all who have worked to achieve this.
Now, back to the cruise, we cruised down to Old Town around 8 o'clock
and Ernie with his 1987 Pontiac greeted us with his great smile. Also
Charlie another Pontiac owner was there.
Bill Hunter with his 2003 Ranger was parked in a wrong lane but we got
him back in line. Buzz and Sue, Stan and Maryann joined us a little
later. Maryann also had their cute little grand- daughter Elizabeth with
them. She seemed to enjoy the cruise and we welcome her. About that time
we had some sprinkles of rain, but the rest of the day was beautiful.
About 11 o'clock, 9 of us went to the Ponderosa for our lunch. Then we
went to the Flea Market close by. At 3 O'clock we were ushered onto the
brick street of Old-Town. Then we wandered out to check with the
cruisers.
We met John and Margaret Lester from Tampa. This is their first time
cruising with us. They have a 1980 MG, blue with a black convertible
top. They also belong to the Florida Sun Coast MG car club. We hope to
see them back. Also, we had 4 El Caminos in a row. We talked to Steve
Martin from Leesburg with his 1983 purple El Camino. Another first time
cruiser, Bob Lanctot, from Belleview, had his 1988 Mustang Convertible
to show. Welcome Bob. Ed, (loser number. one), took a day vacation to be
with us on this special day. Dave and Bev Garceau are back from their
month long stay in Mass. It is good to see them back safe with us.
Kristen Burke, a friend of some of our Saturday Night Cruisers, decided
she wanted to become a Friday Night Cruiser. This pretty young girl just
passed her driving test yesterday and drives a 2006 Scion. She resides
in Hunters Creek and it was good that Linda and Steve came out to make
her feel more at home. We welcome these young people to cruising.
Bronco was back with us after a long absent. Ken Keel was back on block
4 again. Ike and Nancy back with their Vette and Todd with his 1987
Monte Carlo. Ryan Fontaine was with us tonight but will miss the next 6
weeks because of work. Ed Gangwisch cruiser of the month for May,
received his jacket on stage tonight. He also thanked Old Town, our
staff and all for the honor.
There was $200.00 in the Cruise-O-Matic tonight. Joe pulled 10 numbers
but could not give it away. Joe does everything well, but can't give
money away.......
Our 50/50 was very good tonight, it was $108.00. Dave, no. 29479 bought
5 tickets and took it home with him.
