Linda and I made our way to the Cruise-In a little earlier than
expected, about 3:45, we made the dozen or so traffic control devices on
Green! As we parked our '61 Corvair into
our favorite spot,
Graham, G4HFG, from Oldham England
came in over the radio to spend the night with us. The only vehicle in the way, was the business end of an articulated lorry
(Semi Tractor, sorry I was copying Linda's notes). The driver was just restocking his sleepers provisions.
Ernie was the first to park his Fiero in a spot across from us. The
trucker pulled out just about the time that James arrived in and parked
his
'67 Firebird in a spot usually
occupied by "Big John". Then
"Mustang Mike" arrived
and situated the DJ Rig in it's normal location. "Scary Larry's" '86
Mustang was stranded over at Whistle Junction, later after a jump start
he parked it next to us. "Cousin John" backed his Caddy into a spot
across from the DJ Rig. Ron would
back his '61 Caddy
in to a spot just after he arrived, Renee would join in later and do the
shopping for the door prizes. Nicky "Bop" only took 1 try to park his
'32 Duce Coupe between them. Paul, in his "Toy Truck", would park under
the big shade tree, just before Bob arrived in his
SSR. Coy would arrive and help with
the Cones, Thank You. John would back his '57 Chevy into his favorite
spot, Ed & Evelyn would park across from him in her '64 Monza Coupe.
Tony & Marianne would then take their favorite spot for the
'71 SS454
Monte Carlo. It was a slow start to the evening, we couldn't
figure out why.
It was a while before "Bo" would
arrive in his '64 Corvair convertible, son, Marc would join him later
until he had to head off to work. Jean would back her '36 Ford into a
spot next to Paul. "Bill the Photographer" was spotted shooting at all
the cars. Steve Mc, K4SKM, would bring out the
'64 Corvair and park next to
Evelyn's. Bob would arrive in his '68 SS396 Chevelle,
Nick would make it out in the
'32 Ford and park along 13th Street, just
where they like it. Francine brought out the '95 Camaro. Dan z would
join them in with his '59 Edsel.
Bill in his '81 Blazer would park across from Paul. Tom & Edna would
join the other Corvairs with their '65 Greenbrier 8 door van. Chuck
would join in with all of the Earth Toned cars with his
'57 Chevy, he said he wanted to brighten up the
row. Libby would join him later. Don R would take the parking spot
behind the DJ rig for his '68 Mustang Fastback. Brian was spotted in his
'66 Chevelle taking his favorite spot.
Dave and Bailey, the "Pony Dog" stopped by in the '64 1/2 Mustang. Ed &
Sarah would park
Maybelline,
their '62 Corvair next to ours.
We headed for the Sonic for something to eat. While there, Tony & Marsha
arrived in their Healey Sebring.
Chuck & Linda would be out in their
'78 and '79 'Vettes. Tom & Debbie would bring out the
'66
Impala Anthony & Madison were riding with them. Brian &
Missy would also be out in the V8 powered S-10. "Lucky Louie"
would park his
'52 Ford across from us.
Gary & Wanda had their '55 Chevy along 13th Street.
Bob's '36 Ford Humback that was next to "Bo". Hank in his "Baja Bug" out
on his way to work. Roy F would have the top down on his '64 Galaxie 500
XL behind Nicky "Bop". Bert & "Ernie" had the '66 Comet wagon in the row
across from us. Steve, Charlie and Marie had out the
'77 deVille. The "Wookie" parked
his Mustang next to Don's.
Dave, Esther,
Nikki,
and Asa arrived in the '83 Mercury.
Allan even stopped by for a bit on his way home. Jim was out in his
'67 GTO. Ray & Bonnie were also
out in their
'56 Lincoln. She donated a few door
prizes, Thank You.
Whew, what a night, I know there were cars that came and went, people I
didn't get to talk to. We were all just having too good of a time, it
went quickly.
I even spotted John B
and Mary in their
66 'Vette backed into a spot at
the Sonic for a meal. George in his "Heirloom"
'61 Falcon
was amongst the last to arrive.

helped with the tickets and drawings. Get Well, Bob. Barbara and the
