October 15th, 2008
I am running out of ways to describe this
event. I mean it is such a good time and I can't thank Old Town enough
for letting us be part of it except by spreading the word to fellow
Cruisers to come on out with their cars and join in on the fun.
Dwight Icenhower, who has become
part of this place we have chosen to call our "Home Town". He sure
brings the people to "Trophy Row" so we have lots of spectators from all
over the world to check out our cars before the show starts at 7:00. I
certainly think that
Tracy and the Old Town staff have
come up with a winner with this event. The longer breaks between the
sets allow all of the people in attendance to check out the merchants
and just see how much of a gem this place is. They can even enjoy his
performance while strolling the sidewalks of Deac Hundley Avenue as the
music from the stage is through out the town over Old Town Radio.
Wolfman & Sue in the
Wolfwagon
were in place before Linda and I even arrived in our
'61 Corvair at 3:45.
Gary's
HHR was in the spot he takes on a
Wednesday.
Allan
was tearing around on his latest toy, the JO JO 3 wheeler. He will be
making some modifications to it over the next few weeks.
Joe had his '88 Ranger Pickup parked by the "Tropical Breeze" he had to
work the Caricature booth just down the street so we would only see him
once and a while.
Bill & Doris
in
their
'79 T-Bird
would park in the second spot from the stage, as usual.
Bob a Saturday Nite Cruiser would park his '63 Corvair next to us.
Laura would arrive in her '98
Firebird shortly afterwards. then
it was
James in his
'67 Firebird. Ray would bring out
his
'32 Ford Coupe. Just after "Mustang Mike"
would back his
'64 Greenbrier next to Bob's Corvair.
Bert & "Ernie" would park their "Elvis Tribute" PT Cruiser
next to the stage.
Dave,
Esther &
Mesha in their
'83 Grand Marquis would arrive.
Greg would park his '85 Camaro in the line with our car. No chance of
rain so
Lynn would bring out her
'49 Ford Pickup, it wasn't raining!
Bob & Darless in their
'36 Ford Humpback Tudor would park next to Pablo & Nilda
that were in their Taurus. Then it would be
Bob
'68 SS396 Chevelle along with Nick & Francine
'32 Ford Coupe. On the North end
of the stage was Ron & Nancy
in their HHR,
Steve, Charlie & Marie in the
'77 Coupe deVille. Philip & Frances with friends Dan & Ethel
in an '86 Chevy Z28 along with
Buddy & Donna in their '07 Corvette.
Graham, G4HFG, from Oldham,
England came in over the HAM radio to our event as he always does.
Regular spectators that were out included Jasmine &
Glenda, Anna, Jim & Lorie,
Emma was out in her daily driver.
Jim from
"The Dukes" was spotted
in the crowd.
Jennifer
from
WJBJ
was out in her daily driver. Scotty was on duty on the streets of Old
Town. Mike Singer, KJGNI, would make it to the controls of the "Blue
Room". Dave & Arlene would even make it out for the first set in a
Mustang 2+2 as would
Mark in his Dodge.
John, Bonnie, Kelsey & Doug in an ’04 Dodge Intrepid that looked
sort of like a NASCAR racer were visiting from Nova
Scotia.
Jerry & Judy would come out and join us with their '86 Fiero GT.
Butch would bring his '84 LTD out tonight.
Stan & Maryann would bring out their '05 Escape, the Pacer is under
repair.
Pep & Nancy would have their '91 Mustang Convertible out tonight.
Arne would arrive while
Paul,
Jimi,
Peter and
Shawn were setting up on stage, it
wasn't long after that when Bill, Karen, Dwight
and Meagan would park. "Red Racer" Ted, KE4TTE would
take a break from his work to stop and see us for a while.
Bob & Darless would sell the the 50/50 tickets in front of the
stairs and
Tracy, who went to school with
their daughter would catch up a bit with them.
It was time, The "Blue Suede Review"
would take stage and at 7:01
Dwight Icenhower as Elvis would
start the "Tribute to the King" show. That 45 Minutes flew by and it was
time for "Mustang Mike"
Bob & I to take stage for the drawings and award.
Cruiser of the Week went to Cruiser # 32 Ray Vanderpool '32 Ford Coupe.
Jasmine once again was our ticket picker and a fine job she did. Nancy
Nichols
Cruiser #44 had the winning ticket for the $104 50/50 prize.
Gary Thompson Cruiser # 166 wasn't out tonight so the Cruise-A-Matic
rolls over to $70.
Ken & Wanda would make it out for the second set in their daily driver. We
would stay as most of the Cruisers would for the first few numbers of the 3rd
set. The "Vegas Years".
The entire night the crowd just seemed to grow, it
was what I like to call "Cheek to Cheek" people everywhere in fact, for
the second set, there was a group from the Florida Living Nursing Center
in Apopka, Florida, the Staff included Angela Gauthier (Activity
Director), Betty Smith (Activity Assistant), Larry Ingressia (Director
of Plant Operations), Mary Ingressia (Volunteer) who brought 9 of their
residents (family) to join in with us at Old Town's “Rock at the Clock”
event tonight one of whom will be celebrating their 100th birthday in
December, Dwight personally greeted each of them. They enjoyed the show
commenting that “Dwight is wonderful and we look forward to attending
more shows. Thank you for a wonderful evening for our residents
(family).”
Thank You to Old Town for inviting us out every week,
to the Old Town Merchants association for sponsoring "A Tribute to the King",
to
Tracy Old Town's events director
that brought us the "Rock at the Clock" event and to
Gary &
Dave our own
TCB guys for giving us
the time that they do and to all of the Cruisers that are starting to
come out on a Wednesday Nite. Come on out, "Rain or Shine!" Cruisers, if
you don't want to bring out the car because of the weather come on out
anyway, lets build the audience on our own. Remember good entertainment
and good friends makes a great evening in our "Home Town".
Cruisers, Please enter from the Florida Plaza end
from now on, the top gate may be locked so that we can control the
parking a bit better.
