The "Duke" Davis Memorial Wednesday Nite Cruise-In
Featuring "Mustang Mike"
During "Rock at the Clock"

Rain or Shine! At the
Old Town Shopping Attraction.
5770 West 192
Kissimmee, Florida

Newsletter #199 Is on sale this week.

I got a call about 2:30 from "Mustang Mike", Chris had contacted him about indefinitely postponing the Cruise-In at the "Square". So we now take the "Duke" Davis Memorial, Wednesday Nite Cruise-In to Old Town. I know we will loose a few of our Cruisers that live nearby the old venue but I hope that they will come out and join us once and a while. All of the Registered Cruisers will keep their registration numbers and dash cards. Please have them displayed when arriving at Old Town. New design replacements cards will be available very soon.

Here's the scoop on the new venue. This event is open to Cars 1987 and older. All new membership is subject to the Registration Committee and they will reserve the right to refuse anyone for any reason.

This Cruise-In will be just like the events that we are used to having in Saint Cloud with the exception of live entertainment on the Stage, currently it is Dwight Icenhower's, "A Tribute to the King" with the "Blue Suede Review". "Mustang Mike" will come to us from the "Blue Room" over "Old Town Radio". We will start to have our drawings and closing ceremonies after the 1st set, approximately 8:15PM.

This event will run from 5:00PM to 8:30PM, or the start of the 2nd set, you can stay longer if you like to hear all 3 sets of the scheduled entertainment.

The Old Town Staff will place cones in parking spots on both sides of "Trophy Row" near the Stage in Block 1 & 2 before 4:30 on each Wednesday. You will enter the North end of "Trophy Row" just to the East of the Ferris Wheel, that gate will be open for access, or from Florida Plaza on the South end. Please arrive before "Showtime" at 7:00PM, these cones will be then removed and you would then have to park your Cruiser in with the "General Parking" along "Trophy row if there is any. These "Cruiser" parking spots will increase as this Cruise-In grows. Who knows, one day we might have the top 2 Blocks reserved for our Cruisers, maybe even more!

Today, Linda & I arrived at 4:20, there were several spots marked for the Cruisers with cones. Gary & Kathy C were already in "Town" as they are every Wednesday, they have been working this "Rock at the Clock" event since it's beginning. Allan was there as well. The First Cruisers to show up were Bill & Doris in their T-Bird and park next to our Ranchero then Scary Larry in his F-150. Laura, KI4ZJX brought her Firebird up from the "Green Swamp". There were many spectators setting up chairs by 5:00 and starting to get ready for Dwight's show. I talked with one of them, her daughter, Valerie was celebrating her 11 Birthday and she wanted to see "Elvis". Her concern along with other family members that the rain that was moving in would stop the show. I assured her that the show would go on "Rain or Shine".  Then I heard that familiar rumble coming up the street. It was Bob in his '68 SS396 Chevelle and Nick & Fran in their '32 Ford Coupe. They joined the line up on the South side of the stage. Then the rain started. So Linda, Laura, Roger and I headed for some dinner at "Flippers". it was quite a rain storm while we were there, Ron H and family would also come into Flippers. I spotted Tony & Marianne and a bunch of Cruisers from out of Town head into "Kool Katz". They were all in daily drivers. "Cousin John" would arrive in his '72 Caddy and park at the North side of the stage. "Red Racer" Ted, KE4TTE would join us at "Flippers". He would be taking a lot of photos later. Scott & Yvonne would be out taking some photos as well.

When we got back, Dave, Esther & Mesha were out in their '83 Grand Marquis next to Gary & Kathy's HHR, Bert & Laverne would be just down from them in their PT Cruiser. Mike Singer would be at the "Controls". After a few technical problems with the stage, water logged I would guess, Paul, Shawn, Jimi , Peter and Bill the "Blue Suede Review" would start to play. Arnie, would escort Dwight to the stage and the entertainment began. The crowd had grown very large, the rain didn't stop them from enjoying the show, it sure didn't effect the band or Dwight. There were many spectators from all over Central Florida including Coy and many form the UK. Tracy was very pleased to inform me that Dwight's contract had been taken all the way to the end of the year for Wednesday nights. Now occasionally they may not be on stage like the 13th of August when Dwight goes to Memphis for a competition. Oh yes, he did take first place last weekend in Tampa. Tonight he would have a few guest entertainers on stage, including Chris Solano, Patrick Sebastian, Ted Torres and KELVIS, Kevin Hupka. It was an incredible night, especially for Valerie who got special attention from Dwight on her birthday.

Thank You to Old Town for hosting this event, Thank You to Budweiser for sponsoring "A Tribute to the King", Thank you to all that came out tonight.

See you all "Out There".
