Is on sale this week.
Tonight we headed out to Old Town for a birthday celebration for
several members of the
OTARC and Laverne, AKA "Ernie", as well as to see
Dwight
Icenhower on stage with his "Blue Suede Review".
The Cruise-In at the "Square" was called off again because of rain.
It was raining when we arrived, in Elvira, our '60 Ford Falcon Ranchero, Gary and Kathy were already parked across
from the stage, there were several cones blocking spaces for any cars
that would come out. Laura, KI4ZJX was on her way from the "Green Swamp"
with her mom, Mary and her husband Bob in her
Firebird,
T Rod, KT4ROD was on his way as well. Mike, N4HHA and Kristen, KJ4BST
would be running a little behind but they were on their way in the
'63
Corvair convertible.
"Red Racer" Ted, KE4TTE
would bring out his
Nissan and park it next to
Gary's HHR. Even in the rain the
crowd started to build for the night's event.
Dwight Icenhower and the "Blue
Suede Review" was due
to be on stage at 7:00. Allan would arrive to
get things set up, Mike Singer would make his way to the "Blue Room" and
the band started to set up. Nikki would stop out for the night's
festivities. Dave, Esther, Mesha and William would back the
Mercury into
a spot south of the stage. Ian,
G4ZPZ and Sue 2E1SUE, visiting from
Manchester, England called me on the radio to see if the concert was
going to
happen, I replied, Rain or Shine! They would then head over to join in,
for the second week in a row.
There were 7 of us that headed up to
Flippers for our dinner, Kara would
take great care of us, something we have grown accustomed to at this
restaurant. Our line of site was blocked because the cars entered from
the north end of "Trophy Row" but we could tell even with the rain that
the streets were starting to fill up in anticipation of the
entertainment. Bert & "Ernie" would bring out their latest car a PT
Cruiser, look for it on a Friday Nite from now on. The Cruiser car count
was down but I know it will build in future weeks, more details on
this Cruise-In and just how it will work will be coming soon in these
pages.
I chatted with Tracy, Old Town's Special Events Manager, about things that
are coming to Old Town and she informed me that this Wednesday Event
will be known as "Rock at the Clock". She was very happy to see the cars
come out, even in the rain. Did I mention the rain? Well, we did get a
little damp but that sure did not effect the quality of the act that was
on stage, nor did it keep many of the spectators from dancing in the
streets. Laverne, AKA "Ernie" received special birthday wishes from
Dwight, making her day very special, self proclaimed as the #1 Elvis fan,
well, let's just say she is a big fan of Dwight now as well. Scott
Tucker, a sports and wedding photographer, he also was the photographer at
Bratt & Greg's
wedding last week, was taking some photos and he will share them with us
on these pages from time to time.
Join us next week if you have a Cruiser that is 1987 or Older. More
details to follow in upcoming issues and on line at
www.wednesdaynitecruise.com.
Thank you Old Town for this venue and to Budweiser for sponsoring this
series for us all to come out and enjoy.
Thank you to all that came out tonight.
